My Developer Journey : 2020
My Projects
Tesseract

What I built: A website for a friend’s gaming company.
Why I built it: To showcase the goals and members of the organization.
Result: This was a fun project where I helped my friend and could design the website with no restrictions. I decided to experiment with different styles of web design such as with the images and colors. This was a great learning experience as I researched and implemented new designs.
Girl Talk

What I built: A social media website where users can feel safe posting and replying to questions.
Result: This was a very satisfying project to complete as this website would be used by potentially many users. I learned how to implement many new features such as email verification, email password resets and other basic features that you would expect from a basic social media website.
Leaderboard System

What I built: A website that kept track of points for an online event and users could view their current standings on the leaderboards.
Why I built it: An organization that I volunteer with requested a website that they could use to keep track and assign points to teams and individuals.
Result: This was a fun website to build as I knew it would be used by real users. The main goal of this project was to ensure it was fully functional and I also focused on making the front-end simplistic and appealing to the user.

Refactored Personal Portfolio Website

What I built: I refactored my personal portfolio website where I showcase my work experiences and also the various side projects that I work on.
Why I built it: I built this original portfolio a couple of years ago and I wanted to completely rebuild from the ground up as I have learned newer technologies and better code practices.
Result: I completely refactored my website using React and focused on writing more readable and maintainable code. I also updated some sections to have a more modern and pleasing UI.
Invisarmor

What I built: An online Shopify store where the owner could sell mouth shields to an online audience.
Why I built it: I wanted to get experience building a custom Shopify store, and I believed this was a great opportunity to learn something new.
Result: I successfully developed a custom website solution that integrated Shopify and allowed anyone to buy mouth shields.
SELC Gamification System

What I built: A full-stack web application that assisted with an online leadership camp.
Why I built it: The organization that I volunteer for requested a website that would help with an online version of their leadership camp. Having built something similar in the past for them, I was confident that I could develop the website within the requested timeframe.
Result: With the help of the IT committee, we delivered the requested website that allowed attendees of the online leadership camp to register for accounts, register for workshops, view their own profile and itinerary, keep track of points for all attendees and teams as part of the gamification aspects, and the ability to view real-time points on the leaderboard system.
